JJ Rhatigan & Company is one of Ireland’s leading Building Contractors, with operations throughout Ireland and the UK. We are currently recruiting for a Plant Coordinator to join our award-winning team in Galway. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a prestigious main contractor and work with like-minded people on exciting multi-million-euro projects.Objective(s): To support the Plant Department in the coordination, tracking and administration of plant, equipment, fleet and site service resources across projects. The Plant Coordinator will assist in ensuring plant is delivered, utilised and maintained efficiently to meet project requirements. Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment & Operational Support

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the Plant Department which include ordering / hiring internal and external plant.
  • Support the preparation of reports, plant schedules and tracking logs.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant movements, hires and returns.
  • Assist in implementing improved processes and systems within the department.

Site Logistics & Project Support

  • Coordinate delivery and collection of plant, equipment and site accommodation.
  • Assist with mobilisation and demobilisation of plant on projects.
  • Liaise with site teams to organise plant requirements and respond to requests.
  • Track plant on site to ensure availability and minimise delays.

Plant & Equipment Coordination

  • Maintain records of both owned and hired plant.
  • Assist in monitoring plant utilisation and highlighting inefficiencies.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs with suppliers.
  • Track breakdowns and ensure timely resolution with minimal disruption.
  • Support the Plant Manager in gathering data for cost comparisons (hire vs purchase, repair vs replace).

Supplier & Subcontractor Support

  • Liaise with plant hire companies and service providers for quotations and availability.
  • Assist in obtaining and comparing supplier rates.
  • Help maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
  • Support performance tracking of suppliers and subcontractors.

Fleet, Transport & Administration

  • Assist in managing company vehicles, telehandlers, generators, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate transport and logistics for plant movements between sites.
  • Support administration of fuel cards, toll tags and fleet records.
  • Maintain documentation for insurance, servicing and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring fleet and plant compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. RSA requirements).

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to manage records accurately.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and respond to changing site requirements.
  • Good communication skills when dealing with site teams and suppliers.
  • Basic understanding of plant and equipment (or willingness to learn).
  • Commercial awareness with an interest in cost control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with plant or asset systems is an advantage.
  • Proactive and flexible approach in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
