Job Description

Posted on: March 10, 2026

Responsibilities At Liebherr, we design and deliver some of the world’s most advanced container crane solutions — engineering products that move global trade every day. We are now seeking a Design Engineer to join our team and play a key role in shaping high-performance, large-scale engineering projects from concept through to delivery. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, collaborating with highly skilled engineers, and seeing your designs come to life on site, this role offers genuine responsibility, visibility, and long-term career development. You will join a collaborative engineering team where quality, innovation, and continuous improvement are central to everything we do. We support ownership, encourage new ideas, and invest in developing our people — both technically and professionally. Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design and develop engineering solutions for Liebherr Container Crane products and components.
  • Produce high-quality 3D models, detailed production drawings, and bills of materials for fabrication and assembly.
  • Collaborate across engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure all designs remain current, compliant, and fully optimised for procurement and manufacture
  • Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure components meet Liebherr’s quality and performance standards.
  • Provide engineering support for the design, development, and implementation of advanced production equipment, ensuring the organisation remains at the forefront of industry standards.
  • Support site activities, including installation and commissioning, gaining real-world insight into how designs perform.
  • Take ownership of design data, ensuring models, drawings and concepts are well-controlled and accessible.
  • Develop clear, user-focused technical documentation and procedures.
  • Partner with sister companies within the MCC Group to promote knowledge exchange, harmonise technical standards, and support a unified engineering strategy.
  • Support and mentor colleagues within the design team.
  • Contribute to customer handovers and training activities where required.
  • Undertake project-related travel, including site visits and commissioning support.
  • Other duties will evolve and arise from time to time.

Qualifications, Requirements And Experience

  • Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 3 years’ experience in design engineering, ideally within steel fabrication or heavy engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and related engineering tools.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proactive mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with external partners
  • Highly organised, dependable, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Benefits We offer a competitive salary, pension scheme, training and development opportunities, subsidised canteen, retailer discounts, travel opportunities, sports and social club, cycle to work scheme and if that isn’t enough, we have an early finish on a Friday!

  • Please note, CV's will not be accepted directly by email.
  • We do not require the assistance of recruitment agencies for this role.
