Our client, a well-established construction company, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator with strong commercial and construction knowledge to take responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and supporting the wider Commercial and Estimating teams throughout the pre-contract and tendering process.The successful candidate will work closely with design, commercial and site teams, as well as subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring tenders are thoroughly assessed, accurately priced and submitted within deadlines. - Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities and measurement take-offs from drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Review tender documentation and site information, identifying potential risks, exclusions, provisional sums and commercial opportunities.
- Obtain, assess and compare quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure quotations are aligned with project scope, programme and requirements.
- Maintain accurate cost databases, estimating templates and precedent information.
- Work closely with design, commercial and site teams to clarify technical queries and validate pricing assumptions.
- Prepare detailed pricing breakdowns, cost summaries and tender submission documentation.
- Assist with identifying cost-saving opportunities and managing commercial risks.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
- Participate in tender and bid meetings, recording actions and providing updates on pricing progress.
- Ensure all estimating activities are carried out in line with company procedures and relevant health & safety, quality and data requirements.
The Candidate:
- Proven experience working as an Estimator within the construction sector.
- Experience working for a main contractor, construction company or consultancy would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of commercial tendering and pre-contract processes.
- Experience with measurement take-offs and preparation of bills of quantities.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- A good understanding of construction methods, materials, plant and subcontract procurement.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
- Experience with estimating software, cost databases or document management systems would be an advantage.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tenders and tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
- A proactive, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
