Role Description The Building Services Mechanical Design Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and coordinate mechanical building services for projects in the Cork Metropolitan Area. This is a full-time hybrid role, combining on-site work in Cork with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week. Day-to-day responsibilities include producing detailed mechanical services designs (e.g., HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, and piping), preparing technical drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements. The engineer will liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to clarify project scopes, address technical queries, and support design reviews and coordination meetings. The role also involves performing calculations and simulations, contributing to energy-efficient and sustainable design solutions, supporting site inspections and commissioning activities, and assisting with project documentation, reporting, and quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical engineering foundation, with experience in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering design in sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Microelectronic, Medtech, Food, or related industries.
• Proficiency in Design Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, including the ability to perform calculations, size equipment, and develop compliant and efficient mechanical building services solutions.
• Experience with REVIT BIM tools for building services applications, including creating and modifying 2D/3D models and coordinating layouts with other disciplines.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Knowledge of applicable building regulations, industry standards, and best practices for HVAC, plumbing, and associated mechanical systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-driven environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience with sustainability and energy-efficient design principles, and familiarity with relevant software tools for load calculations or system modelling
