Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Estimator to join our pre-construction team. This role is critical in securing profitable work through the accurate pricing of tenders, effective risk assessment, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This role offers flexibility to be based in any of our regional offices located in Galway, Limerick, or Dublin.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for a range of construction projects (commercial, residential, healthcare, education, etc.)
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost plans
• Manage the full tendering process from initial enquiry through to final submission
• Identify project risks and opportunities, incorporating them into pricing strategies
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to clarify scope and requirements
• Present tender reviews and recommendations to senior management
• Maintain and update cost databases and historical records
• Mentor and support junior estimators and contribute to team development
• Attend pre and post-tender meetings as required

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• 5-10 years’ experience in an estimating role
• Strong knowledge of the Irish construction market, including suppliers and subcontractors
• Proven track record in successfully delivering competitive tenders across multiple project types
• Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and building regulations in Ireland
• High level of commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Proficiency in estimating software
• Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
