Overview
An established and growing construction business is seeking an experienced Bid Writer to join its Galway-based team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong construction sector knowledge and a proven track record in preparing high-quality, winning tender submissions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new business opportunities by producing compelling, compliant, and competitive bids across a range of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, writing, and submission of high-quality tender and bid documentation.
- Analyse tender documents, identify key requirements, and coordinate inputs from technical, commercial, and operational teams.
- Produce clear, concise, and persuasive written responses tailored to each opportunity.
- Ensure all submissions are compliant with client requirements, deadlines, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and senior leadership to gather relevant technical and project-specific information.
- Manage the full bid lifecycle, including pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), expressions of interest (EOIs), and tender submissions.
- Maintain and update a library of bid content, case studies, and supporting materials.
- Continuously improve bid processes, templates, and submission quality.
- Conduct post-submission reviews and contribute to lessons learned and future improvements.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Bid Writer or similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, terminology, and project delivery methods.
- Proven track record of delivering successful bid submissions in a competitive environment.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality, professional content.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Desirable
- Experience working on public sector and private sector tenders.
- Knowledge of tender portals and procurement processes in Ireland/UK.
- Degree or qualification in Construction, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience in developing bid strategies and win themes.
