Due to continued expansion, we are currently recruiting 3 Power Plant Operators for a major new project within the Dublin area. The ideal profile for these roles will have experience in operating Wärtsilä dual fuel engines or similar reciprocating engine-based power generation systems and be able to work on a rotational shift schedule: 12-hour shifts, 4 days on / 4 days off (including nights, weekends, and holidays as required).

Position Overview

The Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Wärtsilä dual fuel engines and related BOP systems. This includes adhering to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, ensuring compliance with technical standards, managing both planned and unplanned maintenance events, and maintaining optimal performance in line with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Wärtsilä dual fuel engines in accordance with OEM O&M manuals and established operating procedures.
• Perform daily power plant operations including start-up, monitoring, shutdown, and performance adjustments.
• Conduct regular inspections, plant walkdowns, and condition monitoring of engines and BOP systems.
• Manage planned shutdowns and respond to unplanned breakdowns, coordinating with internal teams, OEMs, and clients.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of operational activities, incidents, and equipment performance.
• Interface with OEM technical teams and client representatives on technical and administrative matters.
• Report anomalies, deviations, and potential issues; assist in troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure all activities comply with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering (or related technical field).
• Minimum 3 years of experience operating Wärtsilä dual fuel engines or similar reciprocating engine-based power generation systems.
• Proficiency with OEM O&M documentation and procedures.
• Hands-on experience in plant operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Prior experience engaging with OEMs and clients is desirable.
• Strong ability to interpret technical manuals and documentation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Proven problem-solving ability, especially under pressure.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to operational excellence and safety.
