Our Kerry based clients are presently recruiting for a Xero Accountant / Bookkeeper. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end bookkeeping processes for a diverse portfolio of SME clients using cloud-based accounting systems, primarily Xero. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Revenue requirements, and supporting the preparation of management accounts and year-end financial statements within a busy practice environment. This position can be based in either Killarney or Tralee and is a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update client accounts using Xero accounting software
- Process sales and purchase invoices, bank transactions, and credit card statements
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and ledger reconciliations
- Maintain accurate nominal ledger coding and chart of accounts structures
- Manage accruals, prepayments, and journal entries as required
- Prepare and submit VAT returns via Revenue Online Service (ROS), Ensure compliance with Irish Revenue regulations
- Assist with payroll-related postings where applicable
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Generate reports including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow summaries
- Provide basic support and training to clients on Xero usage where required
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
- Strong working knowledge of Xero accounting software (essential)
- Good understanding of Irish VAT and basic tax compliance
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Accounting technician qualification (ATI), part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CPA/ACA), or equivalent experience
Salary is open to negotiation and based on experience.
