Head of Manufacturing

Company Overview:

ProSys located in Cork is a leading provider of isolator technology and sampling systems to the global bio-pharmaceutical market.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Manufacturing that will play a crucial role in overseeing the entire manufacturing process within the organisation. This Manufacturing Head position requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations.

Role Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Head of Manufacturing will own production, supply chain and quality performance, ensuring machines are build and tested safely, on time and at target cost.

Head of Manufacturing Responsibilities:

• Lead Production, Supply Chain, Quality, HSE and Industrial Engineering
• Translate project demand into capacity plans, production schedules and resource plans
• Drive on-time delivery to project milestones 9assembly complete, FAT, shipment)
• Own Supplier strategy (selection, performance reviews, dual -souring where needed)
• Ensure a robust QMS in place (NVRs, audits, incoming and final inspection)
• Drive continuous improvement in lead time, productivity, layout and flow.
• Own HSE performance on the shop floor (safe systems of work, training, incident management).

Head of Manufacturing success metrics

• On Time Delivery against key internal milestones (start build, FAT, Shipment)
• Manufacturing cost Vs standard / quoted costs (Labour hours, material variance)
• Supplier on-time delivery and quality (number of critical supplier issues)
• Internal and external quality metrics (NCR rate, rework hours, customer complaints)
• HSE metrics (LTIs, near misses, audit scores, corrective action closure)
• Productivity measures for key processes

Head of Manufacturing required skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a senior manufacturing management role, with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
• Strong track record of effectively managing manufacturing operations within a medium-sized organisation, preferably involving engineered-to-order products such as machinery for the dairy, brewing, and/or biopharma industries.
• Automation project experience an advantage.
• Strong leadership and management abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
• Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional certifications, such as Certified Manufacturing Professional (CMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), are a plus.
