About the role

Strata Financial is built for ambitious SME owners. Supporting owner-managed and growing businesses isn't just part of what we do, it's at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to be the first-choice advisory partner for SMEs across Ireland.

As an Irish-owned firm, we've grown rapidly, becoming a Top 20 firm in 2023 and Employer of the Year at the Irish Accountancy Awards in 2024. With ambitions to become a Top 10 Irish firm by 2028, we're creating opportunities for greater impact, broader responsibility, and faster career progression. If you want to help build something exceptional, this is the place to do it.

What sets us apart

  • SME specialists - every service we provide is designed around the needs of owner-managed and growing businesses.
  • Irish owned firm - direct access to senior leadership and faster decision-making than in larger firms.
  • Opportunity to shape the future - contribute to how we develop our systems, client experience and culture.
  • Flexible working hours - start any time between 8am and 10am (build your working day around what suits you best).

The Opportunity

As Strata Financial continues to grow its tax offering, we're seeking a Tax Assistant Manager to support the delivery of high-quality compliance and advisory services to a diverse client portfolio. This role offers significant exposure across corporate and personal tax matters, while providing the opportunity to develop technical expertise, build client relationships and mentor junior team members.

Ideally this will suit an ambitious tax professional looking to progress into a management position over the coming years.

What You'll Actually Do

Client Delivery & Technical Excellence

  • Prepare and review a portfolio of corporation tax returns and related filings for corporate clients.
  • Prepare and review income tax and partnership tax returns for a private client portfolio.
  • Provide advice on capital gains tax matters, including research into available reliefs and tax-efficient planning opportunities.
  • Advise on capital taxes affecting both corporate and personal clients, identifying relevant reliefs and planning strategies.
  • Deliver VAT and indirect tax advice on a range of client matters, including property-related transactions.
  • Prepare ad hoc tax planning reports and advisory projects across multiple tax heads.
  • Research complex tax technical matters, including areas such as R&D tax credits and Interest Limitation Rules, ensuring clients receive clear and practical advice.

Revenue Compliance & Risk Management

  • Act as a key contact for Revenue-related matters, including Compliance Intervention Notifications and Revenue enquiries.
  • Advise clients on phased payment arrangements and other Revenue compliance obligations.
  • Assist with contentious tax cases, negotiate Revenue settlements, assist with preparation for Tax Appeals Commission and appeals to higher Courts.
  • Ensure all compliance work is delivered accurately, efficiently and in accordance with legislative requirements.

Business Development & Client Relationships

  • Build trusted relationships with clients, acting as a proactive adviser rather than simply a compliance provider.
  • Identify opportunities to broaden client engagement and introduce additional services from across the wider firm.
  • Support the continued growth of the tax practice through a commercial and client-focused approach.

Team Support & Development

  • Review work prepared by Trainees and Tax Associates.
  • Provide coaching and on-the-job technical support to junior team members.
  • Assist with training initiatives and knowledge-sharing across the tax team.
  • Support managers and partners in delivering advisory projects.
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies within the tax function.

What You'll Bring

  • Chartered Tax Advisor and/or Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA).
  • Minimum of 1 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to apply legislation in a practical commercial context.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with a client-first approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities.
  • Broad exposure across multiple tax heads including income tax, VAT and capital taxes.
  • Experience managing Revenue interventions and complex compliance matters.
