Our client, an established civil engineering contractor, is looking to appoint a Junior Site Engineer to join the team on a major public realm and road construction project in Kilkenny.


This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate or Junior Engineer looking to build strong site experience on a varied civils project covering road construction, drainage, utilities and public realm works. You will work alongside experienced Site and Senior Engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to all stages of project delivery.


The Project


The project includes:

  • Road realignment and new road construction
  • Construction of two new roundabouts
  • Drainage and ducting works
  • Kerbing and associated public realm works
  • Cycle lane construction
  • Public lighting infrastructure
  • Traffic signal installations
  • Utility and associated civil works


The Role

  • Assist with setting out and surveying of works on site.
  • Work from construction drawings, specifications and site plans.
  • Support the Senior Engineer and Site Management team with day-to-day engineering requirements.
  • Carry out quality checks and maintain accurate site records.
  • Assist with QA documentation, inspections and as-built information.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and site operatives to ensure works are completed correctly.
  • Assist with drainage, ducting, kerbing, roads and utility installations.
  • Raise technical queries and communicate any discrepancies in drawings or site conditions.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with project specifications and relevant standards.
  • Support the delivery of the project safely and in line with programme requirements.


Requirements


  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Ideally 13 years' site experience, although strong graduates will also be considered.
  • Some setting out experience using Total Station/GPS would be beneficial.
  • Previous exposure to roads, drainage, utilities or general civil engineering is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Keen to develop technically and progress within civil engineering.
  • Full driving licence.


Package

  • €45,000 €55,000 depending on experience
  • Permanent position with an established civil engineering contractor.
  • Excellent project exposure across roads, drainage, utilities and public realm works.
  • Opportunity to work alongside experienced Senior Engineers and Site Management.
  • Strong potential for progression into a Site Engineer and subsequently Senior Engineer position.
