Overview
A key senior leadership position focused on transitioning secured projects from proposal acceptance to a fully operational launch state. This individual ensures all technical, procurement, and execution plans are seamlessly aligned, validated, and communicated prior to the start of physical work.
Core ResponsibilitiesProject Activation & Scope Validation
- Spearhead the initiation phase following project award.
- Verify all proposal details, design intent, cost assumptions, and technical specifications.
- Develop initial timeline, risk assessment, resource plan, and critical path schedule.
- Confirm clear understanding of deliverables, constraints, and milestones across all teams before design commences.
Design Coordination & Technical Preparation
- Establish and maintain the design release schedule and approval timeline.
- Oversee initial design phases and ensure timely completion of finalized design packages.
- Manage technical compliance, constructability reviews, interface coordination, and quality assurance.
- Facilitate client and consultant approvals, sample reviews, and prototype sign-offs.
Procurement Strategy & Supply Chain Alignment
- Drive early procurement of critical materials and subcontract packages.
- Evaluate suppliers, conduct bid comparisons, assess risks, and validate cost benchmarks.
- Secure cross-functional sign-off from Technical, Finance, and Operations leadership.
- Synchronize procurement timelines with design, manufacturing, and site schedules.
Manufacturing & Installation Readiness
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams on production scheduling and batch planning.
- Align fabrication sequences, material availability, and detailing with project milestones.
- Develop phased installation strategies considering site access, logistics, and client schedules.
- Collaborate across teams to resolve technical and sequencing challenges before execution.
Project Governance & Stakeholder Leadership
- Facilitate weekly alignment meetings with department leads.
- Track progress against schedule, technical deliverables, procurement status, and risk register.
- Deliver regular executive updates on project readiness.
- Ensure rigorous documentation and decision tracking throughout the pre-construction phase.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in design coordination, procurement, and construction planning, preferably in building envelope or specialized fabrication.
- Strong skills in program scheduling, risk management, and multi-team leadership.
- Ability to lead through influence and align senior stakeholders across departments.
- Proactive problem-solver with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable in a dynamic environment with overlapping deadlines and complex deliverables.
Measures of Success
- Design packages approved on schedule without major rework.
- Critical materials and subcontracts secured ahead of need.
- Execution teams fully briefed and equipped prior to site mobilization.
- All identified risks mitigated or assigned before handoff to Operations.
- Projects transition to installation phase with complete alignment and clear launch approval.
