Senior Respiratory Physiologist
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Respiratory Physiologist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic respiratory services, supporting clinical decision-making, and contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
This is a permanent fulltime post, 35 hours per week.
The role
- To provide respiratory and sleep investigations and to develop the service as necessary.
- To provide all services to the highest standards of practice in line with service requirements and to work as a member of the respiratory team
- To conduct a full range of pulmonary function tests including, spirometry, reversibility, DLCO, static lung volumes (N2 washout and body plethysmography), muscle strength tests and FENO testing on patients attending the Lung Function Laboratory
- To carry out a range of more advanced tests such as mannitol challenge provocation tests
- To conduct and report limited sleep studies and PSG studies.
- To participate in CPAP mask fitting and compliance download
- To work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- To perform administrative duties to ensure smooth running of the lab and accurate record keeping
- To deal effectively with queries regarding PFT testing and appointments
- To maintain and update patient records, in line with Hospital Administration policies
- To work within national and international guidelines at all times
- To provide first line maintenance, electrical and medical gases safety checking and calibration of Lung Function laboratory & Sleep equipment
- To participate in Quality control program to ensure accurate and reproducible results.
- To perform regular audits as part of the multidisciplinary team in the Sleep/respiratory Service
The Candidate:
- BSc in Clinical Measurement Equivalent and/or Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) or Equivalent
- Minimum 3 years satisfactory relevant post qualification experience
- Knowledge of current respiratory clinical guidelines and standards
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Up to date professional development
- Ensure the most effective and efficient use of information technology for both patient care and administration in a manner that integrates well with systems throughout the organization
