Group Procurement Support Manager

Sanderson is partnering with a leading organisation in the construction and engineering sector to recruit a Group Procurement Support Manager. This pivotal role will drive process excellence, governance, capability development and strategic performance across the group procurement function.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Head of Procurement, the Group Procurement Support Manager will play a critical part in strengthening procurement capability across the organisation. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on operational leadership, embedding best‑practice processes, enhancing governance, ensuring compliance and enabling teams to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, value creation and risk management.

The ideal candidate brings strong category exposure, deep procurement expertise, and a proven track record in process governance, compliance, systems optimisation and people leadership—ideally gained in construction, engineering or capital projects environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and support the Head Office Procurement team, fostering a high‑performance, collaborative culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement, structured change initiatives and capability development across procurement support activities.

Governance, Compliance & Controls

  • Own procurement incentive programmes, including governance, tracking, validation and annual reporting.
  • Develop and maintain the Procurement Information Hub as the central resource for policies, guidance and tools.
  • Oversee compliance, audits and SOP governance, ensuring consistent, audit‑ready procurement processes.
  • Lead audit activity, analyse findings and coordinate remediation initiatives.
  • Manage procurement SOPs, workflows and controls, updating them in line with business and audit requirements.
  • Conduct regular SAP access reviews to maintain compliance and segregation of duties.

Procurement Technology & Systems

  • Own and deliver the Procurement Technology Roadmap, prioritising and implementing tools such as VIM, Ariba and supplier onboarding platforms.
  • Champion system enhancements, ensuring adoption and effective utilisation across teams.

Operational Procurement Support

  • Oversee Head Office procurement support activities, ensuring scope, value, compliance and performance are tightly managed.
  • Support risk governance through development and rollout of procurement risk measurement frameworks.
  • Identify, measure and mitigate commercial, operational and supply chain risks.

Performance Reporting & Communications

  • Define and track KPIs for procurement performance, producing clear monthly and divisional reports.
  • Lead procurement communications including newsletters, commodity reports and leadership‑level reporting.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with project teams to monitor supplier performance, quality and compliance.
  • Conduct structured quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers, maintaining accurate performance profiles.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, including supply chain engagement, performance improvement and programmes.

Strategic Enablement

  • Support the organisation’s strategic procurement and supply chain initiatives, ensuring consistent execution across the business.

Essential Criteria

  • 15+ years’ progressive procurement experience, ideally within construction, engineering or capital projects.
  • Proven track record delivering strategic procurement initiatives and managing complex projects end‑to‑end.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised, detail‑oriented, with a process‑driven and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems, procurement technologies and analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to senior leadership.
  • Flexibility to travel as required to support operational and project needs.
